Lucas Boy

This post is mostly unnecessary. It's loaded with pictures of Lucas for our family to see. However, we will be in Utah in one week exactly and there will be no need for pictures then. As if you won't see and HEAR enough of him in a few days, here are some recent happening to keep us virtually connected for only ONE more week.

Lucas pretending like it's fall weather. Truthfully it's been at least 70 degrees all week.

Is his mohawk getting too big?

Our Thanksgiving day shared with 6! We were happy to have the Squire's and the Elders to share the day with.

We thought our tree was just perfect until Dennis and the Elders were taller than it.

We can no longer get a "normal" pic of Lucas. He sees the camera and gives us his cheesiest smile with squinted eyes. Please bless this is his new normal.

Nooga to Nashville

This is me and five ladies in my ward who awakened at 2:15 am Friday morning to drive to Chatanooga. We wanted to run in the freezing cold, in the middle of the night, with only 2 hours of sleep in 42 hours just to get a finishing medal. But, we did it! 196.3 miles later we almost had frostbite, bags under our eyes and sore legs, oh sore legs. A few things I learned over the last 48 hours:

1. Rural Tennessee is beautiful, even when wild dogs are chasing you down the road at 3:00
 in the morning...FREAKY!
2. There is no one nicer than a man selling head lamp batteries who willingly gave me 8 AA batteries for my breast pump. Said it would make for a great story.
3. I could be a wet nurse if ever needed.
4. The Ragnar staff makes WAY too much money.

5. Even though I missed my boys like crazy they apparently didn't miss me at all. Ty had Lucas and Lucas had his bottle of lotion. This is how I found them after 2 days without a women...they were just fine.
 6. I have the kindest husband who simply wants to keep his wife and son happy.

Thank you, Lucas!

I couldn't quite put my finger on why I was so excited for Halloween this year. I wouldn't get to see 25 kids at school dressed-up to the hilt, I wouldn't be to Mom's soup dinner with dry ice ambiance and I wouldn't have Mom's costume closet to dress me at the last minute. Then I realized I WOULD get to go trick-or-treating for the first time in 14 years! It was the best Halloween in 14 years! Thank you, Lucas!

(Just for the record, I appreciate that Mom made me stop trick-or-treating at age 12. The teenagers/adults were way annoying.)

Big City

All I know is that Lucy Moderatz works in a real, real big city. Yes, I know that. I was there this last weekend. I couldn't help but think about her and Peter and Jack. Oh, and of course Elsie.  Peter is one lucky guy because those trains come fast. I saw them. Here's proof of our delightful weekend.
Janie, Dennis and Lucas in a Chicago pizza restaurant. The sausage on the pizza was unreal, not to mention the buffalo wings, breadsticks that were better than Little Ceasars and root beer better than Brick Oven.

Roaming and shopping the streets. We saw every type of person, except Jo Jr..
I don't think he'll ever go back to his travel size pack n' play.

View of Chicago  skyline from our dinner cruise boat.
Hey boys, nice uh, sweater.
20th floor of the Marriot. He loved the lights and the sirens.
The single picture Tyler wanted. Him in front of Touchdown Jesus. Apparently it's a big landmark in college football.

The weekend ended too quickly. We're back to reality without family around. Ty is back at school, Lucas is sleeping and I'm off to watch While You Were Sleeping. Thank you Janie and Dennis for the luxurious weekend and reminding us that there is nothing better than being with the one's we love.
